Belgian Cafe

International - Moderate

Intercontinental Hotel, West Bay Lagoon, Doha, Qatar
Wow! What a breath of fresh air the Intercontinental Hotel has produced with their newest restaurant Belgian Cafe. With outlets already in New York, London and Melbourne - this infamous brand had a lot to live up to with its Doha outlet. And so it has, the decor - dark wood, old black and white posters, wooden tables and chairs gives the impression of a European pub although we are told they are strictly a restaurant and not a pub. The restaurant is a good size with several different areas to sit in. But where this places really shines is in its food and drink. The food - mussel pots, chunky fries, meatballs are utterly fantastic! Beautifully flavoured, well cooked and a good price also. If you're a fan of beer, you'll love this place. With specially imported beer, the brands and flavours range from the traditional style ale to strawberry flavoured! It really was a breath of fresh air going to the Belgian Cafe and in our opinion exactly what Doha needed.

Belgian Cafe is my second home. Ever since it opened in Qatar, its the only bar I go to, to enjoy a cold pint of Hoegaarden. The atmosphere is amazing and the waiters and bartenders give you a better reason to keep going back due to there friendliness. However, in the food section, only the mussels are really worth trying as the other courses are pretty average.

Well.. been there in-number of times.. the thing I like the most about Belgium Cafe' is the good selection of beers!! the ambiance is incredible! When it comes to service its average nothing special.. but for the price I pay.. I at-least expect the bar tender to give me smile!

Love to go to Belgian Cafe for mussels and fries (moules/frites), although I have to say that the quality is not as good as at the Belgian Beer Cafe in Dubai. I tried on 2 occasions to make a reservation and they just didn\'t pick up the phone (was told on arrival that they were fully booked, so maybe that was why - would be nice for them to tell callers that). Fortunately, I live close by so just turned up and managed to get a table as I told them we weren\'t planning on staying that long (weekend, after 6pm). The mussels and fries as mentioned are good - usually have the \"moules mariniere\" and a friend recommended the ones in the blue cheese sauce too. Prices are quite high for food and drinks (esp. beer), but I like the place with it\'s traditional bar vibe. Staff are efficient and service relatively quick.
