Royal Tandoor

Indian - Cheap

Al Sadd Street, Al Khor Mall, Souq Waqif & The Pearl-Qatar, Doha, Qatar
NOW ON THE PEARL-QATAR

Thought by many as the most authentic Indian food in the whole of Qatar, it's easy to see why the Royal Tandoor is popular. The décor of the restaurant is quaint and intimate if not a little dated, but there’s something here that seems to work and dare I say– adds to the charm of this little place. One thing that makes Royal Tandoor unique and ‘quirky’ are the private booths surrounding the restaurant. When we visited they ushered us to a private booth, gave us the menus and promptly closed the curtains! The food is delicious, and there's a good selection of curries and grills on the menu. The restaurant gets its name from the way in which most of their dishes are prepared– in a traditional clay oven, known as a ‘tandoor’. The service isn't the best we’ve experienced, but it’s far from the worst. It’s clearly a well loved local place, but the thing we loved about it is how authentic our whole experience was– good value for money and definitely worth a visit. NB- Parking is VERY limited at Al Sadd location.

I love the food at royal tandoor, Al sadd.I am a daily visitor and very happy with the quality and taste of food. But the best part about Royal Tandoor in AlSadd is the hospitality with which the guests are treated, I must mention that the Manager, Mr. Amit takes personal interest in greeting the guests and takes very good care of them, probably that's the reason that I prefer to go there daily.

Review for The Pearl branch: I had overlooked Royal Tandoor for a while as I had been told it was 'high end' and 'expensive'(as well as 'very good') One night I thought I'd glance at the menu with a friend. The main courses ranged from between 50-80 QAR(~£9-£15)so we decided to give it a go. If this place is a bit more expensive than Brick Lane (curry restaurant-central in London) then you certainly get more from the quality cooking & presentation (as well as pleasant surroundings and typical Doha excellent staff to customer ratio) To keep costs low we had 2 main chicken courses plus 1 rice, 1 naan and a large water to share. Poppadums and a mango juice (tasted salty, not a lassi) were complimentary, but not great, but the main dishes when they came were lovely. We had a Dum Jeera Pulao rice, Tikka masala and a chicken with olives kebab dish - the latter in particular was so juicy and delicious. Certainly you can go crazy here, try a bit of everything (if you've got a big appetite) and make this a moderate to expensive meal but in the end our bill was 80 QAR, which I think still just counts as cheap! (PS Delivery is also v.good from these guys)

Great; delicious food, taking a star away: too bad delivery takes an hour and a half "becasue I only have one driver now and he is out on a delivery".

Love the Chicken Tikka Masala at Royal Tandoor! Have been a couple of times and will go again for sure! The place is very small with few tables and private booths, so best to make a reservation just in case. Prices are reasonable and staff polite. Our food came out so quickly too! Authentic Indian decor and dimly lit.

This restaurant deserves to be visited. Food quality is higher than the other normal restaurants quality. We tested meat Tandoor which could be more softer and and yummy. The marinade of the meat was successul. The price of this Tandoor was bit higher. We also tested Curry Food, chicken and meat, they were tasty, their prices were normal. Paratha ve Naan were very tasty. Service and cleanliness were good and the decor was modest.
